West Ham United ace Jarrod Bowen set to start England v Hungary – Sky Sports reporter
West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen appears set to make his first England appearance against Hungary on Saturday (4 June), according to Rob Dorsett.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a fantastic season for the Hammers as he scored 12 goals with the same number of assists to his name in the Premier League as he helped the Irons to seventh in the standings.
That form has seen him earn his very first call-up to the England squad and with Phil Foden missing the behind-closed-doors game against Hungary, Bowen looks set to earn his first cap for the Three Lions.
Dorsett, a reporter for Sky Sports, broke the news via his personal Twitter account and pinpointed his fabulous season as the reason for his inclusion.
“West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen expected to start for England v Hungary tonight,” Dorsett said. “Debut is rich reward for his tremendous season and a chance for him to impress in the absence of Phil Foden.”
Overdue
It’s not just been a late-season burst from the 25-year-old that has earned his this call because he has been one of the best English performers in the entire division all year long.
He was being tipped to join the squad in March for the two internationals towards the end of the 2021-22 season but a hip injury against Liverpool ruled him out of contention.

It was an incredibly poorly-timed injury to get but he hasn’t had to wait long for his redemption and we will all be watching eagerly should he be named in that starting XI.
David Moyes will also be able to keep an eye on proceedings without the need to sweat about his fitness as he may have done during the season with plenty of time between the end of this international window and the start of the 2022-23 season.
A good performance this week from Bowen may even put him n the driving seat for a spot on the plane to Qatar for November’s World Cup where he could come home with the trophy in his suitcase too.
In other West Ham news, Moyes’ striker search is continuing as he has now turned his radar to Ligue 1 and one of the deadliest strikers in the division.
