West Ham United ace Declan Rice ranked in world’s top 100 most expensive players

West Ham star midfielder Declan Rice has been included in CIES Football Observatory’s list of the top 100 most expensive footballers in the world.

The list was judged on the estimated transfer value of each player ahead of the summer transfer window that opens on July 1st.

Players playing in England dominated the ranking with just under half [41] of the players included playing in the Premier League.

Rice was ranked 37th on the list with a transfer value of £64million, a considerable amount lower than the £150million price tag the Hammers slapped on his head [The Athletic].

The England international trumped the likes of Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane, RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku as well as Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

Paris Saint Germain winger Kylian Mbappe was ranked first with a whopping £175million fee followed by Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior [£158million] in second with Manchester City’s new forward Erling Haaland [£129million] finishing third.

Shock.

£65million seems like buttons for a player of Rice’s quality. How CIES Football Observatory conjured the list is largely unknown but the Hammers skipper’s valuation is nowhere near enough.

The 23-year-old already possesses so, much quality and experience at such a young age and is only going to get better with time which makes that fee a massive shock.

Maybe the Irons’ £150million price tag has somewhat blurred the lines in terms of what the former Chelsea ace is actually worth in the market but that is certainly what he is worth to everyone in east London.

With that being said, the list of names he is above is an absolute joke – there is a catalogue of household names, legends and up and coming stars that the London Stadium ace is better estimated to be better than and long may it continue.

Of course, Moyes and co want to keep him for as long as possible given his importance to the team but it would be wisest to sell him at the end of the 2022/23 campaign when he still has a year left on his contract – with the option to extend another year.

It would be criminal to let him go for free given, especially with how much he is worth.
