West Ham United leaks cause alarm as ‘troubling noises’ emerge from Rush Green

West Ham United must be alarmed about their current situation under Julen Lopetegui, according to Seb Stafford-Bloor.

While The Athletic journalist has been underwhelmed by the Irons’ performances under the Spaniard, he is more concerned about unrest within the club [GiveMeSport], labelling the circumstances as “alarming”.

He raised red flags over “troubling noises” coming from the London Stadium and added that no one seemingly believes Lopetegui will triumph as their head coach.

“There are some troubling noises around West Ham already”, Stafford-Bloor wrote in The Athletic [22 November].

“Neither the results nor the performances have been good under Lopetegui, but it was alarming how quickly stories of discontent started leaking out of the club this season.

“Is it a union that anyone really believes in? It doesn’t look or sound like it.

West Ham were not doing badly under David Moyes by any means, having managed a top-half finish under the Scot last season.

However, it was hoped that Lopetegui, who won the UEFA Europa League with Sevilla, would be able to take them to greater heights while bringing a more attractive brand of football to East London.

Things, though, are clearly not going according to plan, with the playing style not too different from what was seen under Moyes and the Irons sitting just five points above the relegation zone at fourteenth.
