West Ham transfer priority mooted on talkSPORT, Jesse Lingard mentioned
West Ham United will target players who have struggled at other clubs during the winter transfer window, according to Andy Goldstein.
Reacting to the news that the Irons are interested in Chelsea’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall [Sky Sports], the radio broadcaster mooted a “Jesse Lingard scenario” at the London Stadium.
Goldstein, who slammed Fulham for their “embarrassing” defending in the 3-2 loss against the Hammers on Tuesday (14 January), also mentioned James Ward-Prowse as he assessed the East London outfit’s transfer strategy this month.
“I think they [West Ham] will be linked with a lot of players that didn’t make it at other clubs like a Jesse Lingard scenario; James Ward-Prowse, there are a lot of players they are linked to like that”, Goldstein said on talkSPORT (15 January, 5:52 pm).
Andy Goldstein right about West Ham transfers
No West Ham fan will be excited to hear that the club will be targeting players who are struggling at other clubs.
However, having spent over £100million on new signings in the summer, the Hammers need to be careful with their spending in the winter transfer window.
Therefore, there have been suggestions that Graham Potter’s side will be prioritising loan deals this month, with Dewsbury-Hall among those considered for such an agreement.
It is worth noting that Dewsbury-Hall fits Goldstein’s description as the 26-year-old has struggled at Chelsea since joining them from Leicester for £30m ahead of the season.
Likewise, Rodrigo Muniz has emerged as a centre-forward target at the London Stadium after playing second-fiddle to Raul Jimenez at Fulham [The Guardian].

The same is true for Evan Ferguson, whose development at Brighton has hit a snag this season.
It, therefore, appears that the Irons are eyeing Lingard-esque transfers this window.
