West Ham transfer news surrounding Serhou Guirassy, scouting update emerges

West Ham sent scouts to VfB Stuttgart’s 3-0 loss away at Bayern Munich on Saturday amid interest in star striker Serhou Guirassy, according to talkSPORT.

The online news outlet reported [18 December] that the Hammers sent their scouts to watch the 27-year-old striker as they took on the current Bundesliga champions.

It is also understood that Premier League outlets Fulham and Manchester United had scouts present at the heavyweight match, with both targeting the 16-goal phenomenon.

A transfer for the ages

Guirassy would be a sensational transfer if West Ham can pull off the move for the Bundesliga’s second-highest scorer this season.

The striker has 16 goals in 13 league appearances this term, second only to Bayern’s Harry Kane, who has been a revelation since making the move from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

With the potential to sign the Guinea international for just £15million due to a release clause in his current contract, Guirassy could be a much-needed striker for the London club.

West Ham

It has been well-documented that the Hammers have been starved of an out-and-out forward. The last time West Ham fans witnessed a 20-goals-a-season striker was back in 2004/05 when Marlon Harewood fired home 22 goals in the Championship.

Guirassy could be a very real fix to a problem that has plagued West Ham for decades. As much as Michail Antonio is loved at the club, his age and being injury-prone make it much harder for David Moyes to depend on him.

And Danny Ings is not good enough to compete at the top level, who is yet to score a goal this season or even make a real impact on the pitch.

And although Moyes is happy to continue with Jarrod Bowen up front for the rest of the season, the England international cannot be a long-term solution, with his natural position being on the wing.

In other West Ham news, a Hammers wonder may finally sign a new deal after what Moyes said.
