West Ham transfer news as Hammers never came close to signing Youssef En-Nesyri
West Ham United were interested in signing Youssef En-Nesyri this summer, but never tried to sign the forward, according to Estadio Deportivo.
The Spanish publication reported on its website on Saturday (9 September) that the Hammers were once again interested in the Sevilla striker, but opted to stay with the forward options already at their disposal at the London Stadium.
AC Milan then saw a bid rejected late in the window, that would have seen Divock Origi make the switch to Spain alongside a loan fee and an option to make the deal permanent next year, only for the Spanish club to demand £25.8million for a permanent deal.

David Moyes had been keen to add to his striking options throughout the summer window and the Irons have been linked with a move for the Moroccan forward repeatedly in the past but pulled out of any potential deal on deadline day [Sean Whetstone, 1 September].
Options
It seems as though Moyes and those in charge at West Ham believe they have enough in attack at the London Stadium to remain competitive this year, rather than overpaying for an additional option when they needed more immediate strengthening this summer.
En-Nesyri would have been a helpful addition as he has consistently managed to score goals, including 18 in all competitions last season for Sevilla, but Moyes and his side had other targets they chose to pursue, even if they didn’t manage to acquire any of them.

In the early stages of the season, West Ham have managed to find the net from all over the pitch, with Jarrod Bowen in some of the best form of his career and Michail Antonio carrying more of a threat than he managed for a majority of the last campaign.
Whether or not this form will be maintained for the remainder of the season is yet to be seen, after all the Hammers have only played four games this season. But should they be interested in signing En-Nesyri for what will be the fourth window in a row, he seemingly is available, should a side match Sevilla’s price tag.
