West Ham told to sell Crysencio Summerville in shock transfer claim

Graham Potter has a big job ahead of him at West Ham in the summer.

The boss’ time at West Ham has not gone to plan so far, as he has struggled to lift things on the pitch.

A mixture of a lack of quality and injuries has left Potter with few places to turn to for much of the campaign.

His woes have been added to ahead of the end of the season too, after it was announced that Crysencio Summerville has undergone surgery on a hamstring injury.

Martin Allen makes Summerville call

West Ham have not been lucky with injuries throughout this season, having missed some key members of the squad at times.

Although positive that Summerville is undergoing surgery that should aid him in his recovery from injury, supporters are frustrated with the 23-year-old after he previously refused surgery.

Given Summerville has been out since January, you can understand why there would be some annoyance at the London Stadium over his choice to have surgery now.

Had he taken the step when he was initially ruled out, his recovery would have been much more advanced, but the prolonged wasted time will now keep him out for West Ham going into the start of next season.

When asked what he made of the situation, Martin Allen was blunt in his analysis of how West Ham should respond as he posted on X (30 April): “Simple. Sell him.”

Allen went on to argue that this highlights a wider problem as he followed up to say: “With that type of attitude, mentality, mindset, do you really think a team can win games in a 10 month highly competitive competition?

“Would you want him in the trenches alongside you? Drive and desire, determination and commitment to the club and the team surely is crucial.”

West Ham can’t afford to let Summerville go

You can certainly understand Allen’s perspective on this and when he does get back to fitness, Summerville will have to deliver on the pitch to earn back the respect of those in East London.

Summerville has suffered with injury for West Ham.

However, in what is going to be a big summer for Potter, he will have to put his focus elsewhere and look at who he can bring in to strengthen his team rather than being able to complete a mass overhaul.

PSR restrictions are going to play their part and Potter’s side will only be able to add to their squad in a serious way if they offload key members of the squad too.

However, with Summerville ruled out at the start of the season, it makes any offers for his services extremely unlikely, especially when his decisions may have put off other clubs when it comes to his attitude, too.

West Ham may have to stick by this one for now but the winger certainly needs to repay that when he is available to play once more.
