West Ham to play Newcastle in first match of new Premier League season

West Ham will play Newcastle United at St James’ Park in their first match of the 2021/22 Premier League season, according to ExWHUemployee.

Writing on The West Ham Way’s Patreon account, the reliable Hammers insider reported that after playing in the North-East, David Moyes and his men will welcome Leicester to the London Stadium for their first home match.

It is understood that on Boxing Day, the Irons will play host to Southampton and will end the season with an away day at Brighton.

West Ham

Could have been worse

West Ham will once again be opening their Premier League season with a match against Newcastle.

Moyes’ side kicked off their 2020/21 campaign by hosting the Magpies at the London Stadium, losing 2-0 thanks to goals by Callum Wilson and Jeff Hendrick.

However, the Irons will have a chance to avenge that defeat by inflicting a home defeat upon Newcastle at St James’ Park when next season starts.

West Ham

We should win it.

Newcastle did well to ultimately avoid relegation last season but Steve Bruce’s side is far worse than the one Moyes has with the Scot overseeing a huge improvement since that defeat in September last year.

After playing Newcastle, the home match against Leicester proved to be a testing one – but it’s not impossible to win it.

Let’s face it, it could have been worse.

That final match of the campaign at Brighton is also a nice one too.

If fans are allowed to make the trip to the south coast it’s a decent away day and it’s also a favourable fixture if we’re in need of a win.
