West Ham to offer Declan Rice bumper new deal

West Ham are set to use the wages that they have saved from Felipe Anderson leaving to hand Declan Rice a bumper new contract, according to the Sun.

They claim that the extra cash saved by letting Anderson leave will be put towards handing Rice a “lucrative new contract”. They also state that because Anderson didn’t fit into David Moyes’ plans, the Hammers have decided to get rid of him and make some “significant room” on the wage bill.

The 28-year-old earned over £100,000 per week at the London Stadium, and that money will be put towards Rice’s new deal, with talks “ongoing” between the Hammers and Rice’s representatives and “there is hope” that both parties will reach an agreement.

Great idea!

Anderson never really fitted into Moyes’ plans, and it is good that they are set to get rid of him.

However, it is even better that this money is going to be used by the Hammers to fund Rice’s new deal.

The 22-year-old rejected a new contract from West Ham at the beginning of this month, but with Anderson’s wage off the books, it makes perfect sense to use that money to tie Rice down and give him the wage he deserves [the Guardian].

If this does happen then, West Ham will be securing arguably their most valuable player to a huge deal that should finally end the speculation linking him with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.

Rice deserves a new contract at West Ham and deserves to be paid a wage that reflects his talent, so hopefully, this report is true, and he signs a new deal soon.

In other West Ham news, there has been a deadline set for Jesse Lingard to make a decision over his future.
