West Ham to enter loan talks with Marseille for Duje Caleta-Car, but club wants permanent deal
West Ham are set to enter into talks with Marseille for Duje Caleta-Car to see if a compromise can be reached on an initial loan deal, according to ExWHUemployee.
The reliable Hammers insider claimed on the West Ham Way Patreon on Wednesday morning (26 January) that the Irons want a temporary deal for the Croatia international centre-back, 25, as he is not proven in England.
However, the Ligue 1 outfit only want a permanent deal, and West Ham will now hope they can convince them to change their minds.

Not happening?
Marseille are not keen to let one of their key players leave on loan, only to have him come back in the summer.
The Hammers will likely cover all of Caleta-Car’s wages and part with a loan fee, but the French side want much more, and convincing them could prove herculean.
David Moyes wants to bolster his backline, and while the Croatian could fit the bill having proven himself in the French top-flight, nothing guarantees he can do the same in England.
Issa Diop has struggled to get going at the London Stadium after impressing in the opening months upon arriving from France, and it appears that has left West Ham skeptical in their pursuit of Caleta-Car.

The player could be keen to link up with his international teammate Nikola Vlasic in London, but he has to convince Marseille to accept a loan move for that to happen.
Moyes clearly wants another centre-back with both Diop and Craig Dawson failing to really impress, but there is very little time left with around five days left in the market.
