West Ham to continue talks for Nikola Milenkovic today

West Ham are set to resume talks with Nikola Milenkovic today (Friday) after positive negotiations with him on Thursday, claims ExWHUEmployee.

The 23-year-old is subject to transfer interest from a host of clubs including Juventus, Sevilla, Leicester and Tottenham Hotspur, but their interest is not as firm as the Hammers’.

However, the deal is far from done and the Hammers insider has reported that with Kurt Zouma out of the running, the club are solely focused on getting Milenkovic to the London Stadium.

Writing on his Patreon page of the West Ham Way Podcast, he said, “Talks have continued today (Thursday) and have been positive it seems. The deal is not done at this point and further talks will continue tomorrow (Friday).

“The defender does have options although these options are not as concrete as ours. Clubs such as Juve, Sevilla, Leicester and even Spurs hold an interest but at this point, it doesn’t seem as firm as ours.

“The decision has always been on the better deal between Milenkovic and Zouma, with Zouma now out of the running at this point, full focus has been on Milenkovic.”

We’ve been in advanced talks and close to signing a number of players in the past, only for them to fizzle out at the 11th hour and the club then settling for their sixth or seventh choice target.

Our quest to sign a centre-back has also gone through some hurdles, but hopefully, there aren’t too many more hindrances in getting this one over the line.

Getting him to the London Stadium ahead of Champions League clubs like Juventus and Sevilla would be a massive coup and show any prospective future signings the direction we’re headed in as David Moyes seems to be building a side for the future.

At 23, Milenkovic could be a mainstay in our playing eleven for the next decade and could go on to become the club captain in the future if he keeps progressing the same way he did at Fiorentina.

He’s been likened to former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic [ESPN], who has captained the Red Devils during the latter stages of his Old Trafford days, and we won’t be surprised if Milenkovic has that sort of an impact on our team.
