West Ham to consider permanent move for Jesse Lingard – David Moyes

David Moyes is considering a permanent transfer for Jesse Lingard to West Ham after just one game for the club.

The Hammers ran out 3-1 winners on Wednesday evening at Villa Park. It was the perfect way to bounce back from their lacklustre defeat to Liverpool at the weekend.

Lingard made his debut in emphatic fashion. He scored twice on his first Premier League appearance since the last day of 2019/20.

Moyes thinks that he can flourish at the London Stadium. He said: “He is a more mature boy now and is someone who is getting to the prime of his career.

“He’s at the stage where he wants to play well and he wants to be on the pitch. We’re not getting carried away but obviously we’re really pleased with Jesse.

“We’ve had one game. The situation here is that Jesse’s going to get a good chance to look at West Ham, see what he thinks of us and whether he likes it, and we’ll get a good look at Jesse and decide what we think in five or six months time.”

Sign him up

It’s an absolute no brainer.

Lingard waltzed into the West Ham side on Wednesday as if he’d been playing for us for years. He’s made the number ten role his own already having scored twice and being involved in lots of exciting attacking play.

He appeared to bring out the best in those around him at Villa Park. His link-up with Benrahma and Antonio was very impressive and exciting to see. It’ll be interesting to see how he plays with Jarrod Bowen against Fulham.

It appears that Lingard’s sole focus at this moment in time is making a statement and proving his doubters wrong. He was an integral part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad at the 2018 World Cup.

His aim will be to get back into the plans in time for this summers European Championships.

As Moyes said, he’s a player coming into his prime, still with a lot to prove. Let him do it in claret and blue, please?
