West Ham: Thomas Frank shares ‘unbelievable’ David Moyes sack verdict ahead of Brentford clash

West Ham United manager David Moyes deserves “more credit” for the “unbelievable” job he has done at the London Stadium so far, according to Thomas Frank.

The Scotsman has come under increased scrutiny from the Hammers’ fanbase in recent weeks due to the Irons’ miserable recent run of form, with supporters and pundits alike suggesting he should be sacked.

Moyes has since suggested that there is a contract extension on the table for him at the London Stadium, but he won’t decide on his future until the end of the season and Brentford boss Frank thinks the 60-year-old deserves more plaudits.

Speaking in his press conference via Sky Sports (23 February) he said: “I’m always biased because I’ll always be for the head coach or the manager, that’s one thing. Two, I know Moyes quite well and really like him as a person and a coach.

“I think even taking that aside, looking at the bigger picture, I think he deserves much more credit. There are always spells in seasons where things are not going the right way and there are a lot of factors that can cause that issue.

“It could be the head coach or the manager, it could be because the players haven’t performed, it could be because of injury, it could be scrutiny from the outside or it could be internally.

“There’s so many things affecting that so even though I know that were unbelievable and we have all the power in the world as head coaches and managers, I think there is more to it than just us.

“That said, I think he’s done a top job, there’s no two ways about that.”

Will West Ham sack David Moyes?

It has certainly felt as though Moyes has been on borrowed time at West Ham recently following a disastrous run of form, which has seen the Hammers slip down to ninth in the Premier League table.

A section of supporters have made their feelings known in recent weeks with banners calling for the Scotsman to be sacked or even the mass exodus of fans during their thrashing at the hands of Arsenal.

West Ham
David Moyes has found himself under increasing pressure at West Ham United.

But it seems as though everyone close to the club or Moyes keeps singing his praises and suggesting that he doesn’t deserve the criticism that he has faced over the last couple of weeks.

To get some fans back onside, the 60-year-old will have to mastermind a win over Brentford on Monday (26 February) otherwise the pressure and criticism will only continue to mount in the coming days.
