West Ham technical director appointment update emerges after Tim Steidten exit
Graham Potter has already brought Kyle Macaulay to West Ham as a replacement for former technical director Tim Steidten.
Many supporters felt that the German was bringing poison to the East London club, having already fallen out with David Moyes before playing a major role in Julen Lopetegui’s sacking.
As well as failing to get along with managers during his time at the London Stadium, the technical director was continuously slated on social media for his transfer decisions.
Two of the deals he sanctioned during the summer transfer window – Niclas Fullkrug and Luis Guilherme – have both been slandered due to their total lack of impact in the first team so far.
The fans have every right to be frustrated with the club’s recent transfer activity, and with Steidten leading the way for the past few windows, the blame ultimately falls on his shoulders.
It was only a matter of time before David Sullivan finally pulled the trigger on his role, and with Macaulay now taking over player-related decisions, an update on Steidten’s potential successor has emerged.
West Ham in no rush to replace Tim Steidten
The Hammers have considered the possibility of hiring a new technical director following Steidten’s exit, already identifying targets based in England overseas, according to The Telegraph.
The website reported via its website [7 February] that while potential replacements have been identified, the hierarchy are in no rush to hire a new figure and are not committed to doing so.
This comes after Steidten’s exit from the London Stadium was announced [4 February], having been blocked from the West Ham databases while having no say during the winter window [Daily Mirror].
Graham Potter and Kyle Macaulay ready for action
While Potter was unable to add multiple new faces to the squad during the winter transfer window, the one loan signing was incredibly key, reuniting with striker Evan Ferguson.

Michail Antonio and Fullkrug are both sidelined and with Danny Ings clearly not trusted, a new centre-forward was absolutely vital if the Hammers are to climb up the Premier League table.
Ferguson only has two Premier League starts to his name so far this term, but having proven himself in back-to-back league campaigns before, he should have no trouble settling in at the London Stadium.
