West Ham target Nick Pope valued at £40m by Burnley – report

West Ham target Nick Pope has had a staggering £40million price tag placed on his head by Burnley, according to the Sun [21 May].

Pope, 30, is reported to be of interest to Fulham and the Irons but both could be put off by the huge fee the Clarets are wanting.

The Hammers and Fulham had been hoping for a fee nearer £20million for the England keeper.

The Sun also reported that Burnley won’t change their valuation of Pope even after their relegation to the Championship.

Stay clear

David Moyes should stay well clear of Nick Pope after hearing of Burnley’s asking price for the keeper.

The Hammers are keen to bring Alphonse Areola to the club permanently in what would be a far better move for the Irons.

Pope is a good Premier League keeper, but £40million is a ridiculous asking price for Pope’s services.

That amount of money would give other areas of Moyes’ squad a much-needed upgrade.

West Ham

West Ham rarely spend big but this summer it is a must for Moyes.

The Hammers were exposed against Brighton in the second half, with many players looking jaded and tired.

The lack of depth and January business has made the end of the season very disappointing for the Hammers.

If they had signed a striker and another centre-half then who knows what could’ve been for West Ham this season.

Sadly, a season that could’ve ended in Champions League football has ended in a seventh place finish.
