West Ham target Kurt Zouma ripped into by Darren Bent
Darren Bent has torn into Kurt Zouma for his reported wage demands ahead of a potential move to West Ham.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Tottenham Hotspur striker revealed that he doesn’t think Zouma has done enough to be demanding £125,000 per week to move to the London Stadium [Daily Mail].
The deal for Zouma to leave Chelsea and sign for the Hammers is edging closer to completion, but Bent doesn’t think that the Frenchman warrants the wages he is demanding.
He said: “I don’t think he’s [earned] the right in terms of performances on the pitch.
“If he comes in and says ‘I want to be the highest-paid player’. If I am one of the other players in the dressing room, I am asking the question, why?
I wouldn’t say his performances over the last couple of seasons [are] deserving of [the] highest-paid player at West Ham.”
Is Zouma worth it?
The 26-year-old has a lot of Premier League experience and some international experience.
He is also still to reach his peak as a player, so his best years are ahead of him and could be fulfilled at the London Stadium.

However, if he does receive £125,000 per week, he would become the Hammers’ highest-paid player [Spotrac].
This is a lot of money, but the Hammers have waited so long to sign a centre-back that they have sort of backed themselves into a corner, and Zouma holds all the cards.
Ultimately, he would be a good signing for the Irons, but the question is will the West Ham board decide to give him the wages he wants, or will another deal fall through?
