West Ham target Jesse Lingard refuses to tell teammates his plans
Jesse Lingard reportedly “batted away” teammates when they asked him about his future with West Ham still interested in signing the 28-year-old, according to Claret & Hugh.
The Hammers news site reports that Lingard “refused to give assurances” that he wouldn’t leave Old Trafford after he played in the Red Devils’ friendly against Derby County. They also claim that “a meeting took place” between Lingard and Manchester United’s bosses, and they made it clear that they want the England man to stay, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted that he would get game time.
However, the report also claims that Lingard “feels conflicted about letting down David Moyes” after he gave him a chance to kickstart his career.
Judging by this report, it appears as if the 28-year-old hasn’t decided what he wants to do yet. However, it is clear that Solskjaer wants to keep him at Old Trafford [Manchester United’s official site].
However, the truth is that if Lingard doesn’t want to let Moyes down so badly, he should have decided already because this waiting around isn’t helping anyone.
Lingard’s indecisiveness is stopping the Hammers going out and getting other targets, while it can’t be helping him not knowing where he is going to play, and it isn’t helping Manchester United, who probably need to know if they will have him for this season or not.
It has really come to the time where Lingard must decide what he wants to do, as this saga has gone on long enough.
It seems as if he will stay at Old Trafford, which would be a huge shame for the Hammers, but if he tells them that quickly, they can go out and look at other targets.
If he keeps them waiting, they could miss out on viable alternatives to Lingard.
So, it is decision time for Lingard. This can’t go on any longer.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have made an offer for an SPFL player.
