West Ham target Jesse Lingard dons Declan Rice's jersey while watching England game

West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing Jesse Lingard permanently from Manchester United this summer.

The England international joined the Hammers temporarily in January, earning a recall to the Three Lions after two years out as a result of his impressive loan spell.

Lingard made manager Gareth Southgate’s initial 33-man squad but failed to make the 26-man final list.

Nevertheless, the attacking midfielder is cheering the Three Lions on and was spotted donning a Declan Rice jersey while watching the opening match versus Croatia amid a report by Claret & Hugh he’s “nailed on” to be signed permanently by the Irons.

Lingard took to his official Instagram account to post a picture of himself while enjoying the game.

Top transfer target

Lingard’s name should be at the top of manager David Moyes’ wish list this summer, and we can only hope that the board will support him.

He signed a three-year deal on Saturday to end speculations linking him with Everton, and he deserves to be rewarded with a sizeable transfer kitty.

Lingard loves West Ham and wearing a replica of Rice’s England jersey speaks volumes.

Despite his talents, the 28-year-old does not seem to have a place in manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team at Man Utd.

Bruno Fernandes has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League at Old Trafford, and Lingard does not have a chance of pipping the Portuguese to a place in the Red Devils XI.

His spot in West Ham’s starting line-up remains available, though, and he should be doing everything within his powers to force a move.

We are offering European football and a chance to challenge for silverware next term, and Lingard knows he has to play regularly and also impress in 2021-22 if he wants to play at next summer’s World Cup.

West Ham are offering him that chance and he must grab it with both hands.
