West Ham target Alphonse Areola still in London

West Ham United have been strongly linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain keeper Alphonse Areola this week.

Ekrem Konur reported on his personal Twitter account that a move was all-but-complete for the French international.

Areola spent last season on loan at Fulham in the Premier League and was supposed to return to France after their relegation.

That doesn’t appear to be the case.

Areola posted a picture on his Instagram account this week, tagging Panadera Bakery, which is based in Kentish Town.

That is actually less than eight miles away from the London Stadium, as he appears to be staying close to the club and area.

It is suggested that Areola is pushing for a move back to the English capital as that is where he lives with his family.

West Ham

Strange.

Areola looks destined to leave Paris, as he looks to have missed pre-season training with Mauricio Pochettino.

It could be a very smart move by David Moyes, which may also trigger some exits of our own between now and the end of the window.

Lukasz Fabianski should remain as number one, but David Martin and Darren Randolph will be looking over their shoulders.

Martin signed a new contract at the club last month, with Randolph possibly the one most at risk at the club.

The Frenchman may be brought in a year early before being made number one next season should Fabianski move on from the club.

Time will tell, but this one appears to be growing legs quickly.
