West Ham table £10m bid to sign Fenerbahce defender Attila Szalai

West Ham have reportedly tabled a £10million bid to sign Fenerbahce defender Attila Szalai.

According to Spor journalist Omer Celikbasli, the Hammers were preparing this bid since August 7 and have finally submitted it two days later.

It’s understood that Fenerbahce have put the offer on hold and are yet to accept or reject it.

He wrote on Twitter, “West Ham United made this offer for Attila Szalai and was put on hold.”

Two days ago, he claimed, “West Ham United is expected to make an offer of around 12m euros [£10m] to Fenerbahce for Attila Szalai this week. Other British defender candidates; Eric Bailly, Thilo Kehrer and Conor Coady.”

Good enough?

Szalai is a full Hungary international and can play on the left-side of a back four – which is precisely the centre-back the Hammers are looking for.

At 24, he’s got his best years ahead of him and is only getting better with time.

He’s been linked with West Ham in the past so there’s a clear indication that he’s got admirers at the London Stadium

David Moyes too, would love to work with him and maybe he could take his game to the next level as he has done with a number of players.

He would be the perfect centre-back partner to Kurt Zouma and would even give Moyes the option of playing a back three when Aguerd returns from injury.

This is one transfer we would love to see happen in the coming days and it all depends on Fenerbahce’s valuation and stance but all indicators are that this should be enough for them to accept.
