West Ham are reportedly looking to offload Darren Randolph in the January transfer window.
According to reports from Claret and Hugh, the East Londoners are actively looking to push Randolph out of the club.
The 34-year-old has represented the Hammers in two different spells. He joined the club from Middlesbrough in January 2020 for around £4million (BBC), after previously playing between 2015-17.
Since returning to the club he has made only five Premier League appearances.
He has even dropped further down the pecking order following the summer arrival of Alphonse Areola from Paris Saint-Germain.
West Ham fans on Facebook are suggesting that it will be a good move for the player and that his career is “ruined” after returning to the London club.
Here’s how the Hammers faithful reacted:
Randolph is hardly featuring for the Hammers and a move away from the club makes sense for all parties involved.
He is on a decent pay package and it’s high time to let him go. He is a vastly experienced goalkeeper and there will be no shortage of clubs for him if he decides to drop down to the Championship.
In fact, a move to the Championship would be perfect for him. He will get regular games under his belt, something he hasn’t managed at West Ham.
He is out of contract at the London Stadium in 2023, so West Ham can expect to get a decent transfer fee as well for him.
To be fair, the Hammers have a talent pool of exciting keepers, with the likes of Joseph Anang, Nathan Trott and Krisztian Hegyi all coming through the ranks.
