West Ham Super Fans have flocked to a post on the West Ham Zone Facebook page about Declan Rice’s new contract.

90min claim that the 22-year-old midfielder is now open to signing a new deal at the London Stadium, but he wants a release clause included in the contract.

The England international turned down a new contract earlier in the summer. Still, despite strong interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United, Rice stayed put [Guardian].

Rice to get a new deal with a release clause?

It seems pretty clear that, unfortunately, Rice doesn’t see his long-term future with the Irons despite finishing sixth last season and starting this campaign well.

So, you would think that a new deal with a release clause could be a good idea for both Rice and the Hammers.

This way, the Irons could guarantee a huge profit on the 22-year-old, and it also gives Rice some assurance that if a top club really wants him, they will match his release clause.

So, it remains to be seen what happens, but we feel as if this wouldn’t be a bad move for the Irons, and it could guarantee at least a couple of more seasons from Rice.
