West Ham suffered ‘one of them nights’ v Frankfurt – Trevor Sinclair
West Ham have made things difficult for themselves in the Europa League after they suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Eintracht Frankfurt last night.
Michail Antonio’s goal wasn’t enough to earn even a draw for David Moyes’ side as the Bundesliga outfit finished a famous night with a lead to take back to their place next week.
The Irons won’t be panicking yet having gone to Lyon needing a win in the last round as storming to a 3-0 win and they need a similar evening again to make the final in Seville.
Trevor Sinclair thinks his former side can do exactly that with Frankfurt having little in their side to fear from a Hammers perspective.
“It just didn’t go for us, it was one of them nights,” Sinclair said to talkSPORT. “It’s only one goal though and you saw what we did in the last round.
“I expect a similar performance. I’m looking at the Frankfurt side and apart from Kamada who I thought was absolutely amazing, I didn’t think there was much to fear from them.
“They analyse it and see how they can play against a 3-4-3 better and I don’t think they’ve got the ability to beat us.”
Make things difficult
If West Ham and Moyes are trying to write the script for a Hollywood thriller then they are going the right way about it but it doesn’t half make it stressful to watch.

Just because we have performed miracles on the continent before, doesn’t mean we’re going to again and to go to Germany behind is a huge mountain to overcome.
The good thing about last night is that we weren’t outplayed nor did they offer a massive threat to our goal despite scoring twice so once we can fine-tune some things, we should have enough to win next week.
But it shouldn’t have got to the point where we were chasing the game and maybe a side with more European experience would have been able to settle for a draw to take it to the second leg in parity.
Once Arsenal is out of the way on Sunday, all eyes will be on Germany where the Irons’ troops will hope to come home as finalists.
In other West Ham news, the club are looking at punishing fans who did something disgusting when Antonio scored last night.
