West Ham stewards have been told to watch out for Manchester United fans in the home end

West Ham stewards have been told to keep an eye out for Manchester United fans appearing in the home end this afternoon.

Claret & Hugh report that so-called ‘Cockney Reds’ have been purchasing tickets in the home end on ticket exchange websites to try and spot Cristiano Ronaldo.

This means that the West Ham stewards have been told to be extra vigilant to avoid any potential problems caused by Red Devils sitting in the home end.

A needless problem for stewards to deal with.

We get that Ronaldo is a huge draw, and there will be plenty of Man U supporters who haven’t seen him in the flesh yet; however, sitting in the home end could cause needless problems.

If the Red Devils score and a few fans celebrate, then that could cause crowd trouble.

This would be unfair on the stewards at the London Stadium who do all they can to keep everyone safe, but only a certain number of them are there.

We accept that a small number of Red Devils fans will get in and sit in the home end, but we would hope that the majority are spotted and barred from entering.

It should be a cracking atmosphere this afternoon, and we just hope that no crowd troubles emerge as the game progresses.

This would spoil a potentially fantastic afternoon for the Irons, so we hope nothing bad happens.
