West Ham starlet Thierry Nevers tipped to be the club’s breakout star

West Ham starlet Thierry Nevers has been tipped to potentially breakthrough to the first team, according to a report from The Athletic.

They have asked a writer covering each club in the Premier League to choose one player they believe has a chance of breaking into the first team, and for the Hammers, that man is Nevers.

Roshane Thomas claims that the 19-year-old “has integrated well” and that his strengths are “timing his runs” and having “composure in front of goal”.

Nevers to make an impact this season?

The Hammers brought the 19-year-old in from Reading, and it appears as if he could be handed a debut in “the not too distant future” because of the Hammers’ lack of senior strikers.

West Ham only have Michail Antonio and, with less than a month of the transfer window remaining, have still not signed another forward.

So could Nevers be given his chance to shine?

Well, he has been picked out by Thomas as the potential breakthrough star, so must have something about him.

It would be great to see Nevers make an impact on the first team, but it would be unfair if he were used just because the Hammers fail to sign a striker.

That would put too much pressure on him when he should be allowed to develop at his own pace with the odd first-team appearance here and there.

However, we do hope to see Nevers for the Hammers’ first team at some point this season.

In other West Ham news, the club could see their proposed deal for Milenkovic collapse.
