West Ham starlet Mipo Odubeko has ‘great potential’ Stephen Kelly
West Ham United striker Mipo Odubeko has earned his first Under-21 call-up with the Republic of Ireland and looks set to start this evening.
The young Irish side take on Sweden in a crucial European qualification game that Odubeko will be keen to have a big impact on for his debut.
His loan spells at Huddersfield and Doncaster haven’t quite reaped the rewards that he or anyone at West Ham will have been hoping for but former Ireland international Stephen Kelly still sees a lot in him.

“He’s doing well in League One at the moment with Doncaster Rovers. I think he has got great potential. He’s been through the leagues in England,” Kelly said, as quoted by Pundit Arena.
“But his pace will push teams back, and offers a penetration which you can’t always get.”
Must improve
Odubeko has played 11 times for Doncaster Rovers this season with Donny languishing in the relegation zone of League One and he can’t get himself a proper run in the team.

It isn’t helping his case that he is still yet to score for the third division strugglers who look all but certain to drop into the fourth tier next season.
If Odubeko has any hopes at all of going beyond the Under-21 squad for the Republic of Ireland or even making his debut for the Irons, he has to start finding the net when he gets the chance.
His most important job as a striker is to put the ball in the back of the net but he is yet to score any goals at a senior level.
Maybe he needs to drop down to non-league football just to try and find some form but if he can’t do it in League One, he has next to no hope of making it in the big leagues.
In other West Ham news, Yaya Toure has said he would be open to helping this Irons star improve to the next level.
