West Ham star Michail Antonio discusses the key turning point in the Tottenham game

Michail Antonio believes that a little scuffle between Pablo Fornals and Christian Romero sparked the West Ham game into life.

In the second half, the Spaniard got into a bit of an altercation with Romero and that suddenly lifted the London Stadium and also the Irons who scored the winning goal not long after.

The winner was, of course, scored by Antonio, but he clearly believes that moment between Fornals and Romero kicked the game into life.

When asked by Laura Woods on Sky Sports about the incident, he said: “It was a bit of a stale game.

“There wasn’t really much going on; we had a couple of opportunities, they had a couple of opportunities, but there was no real excitement in the game.

“It wasn’t until that happened it sparked, the fans started lifting, everyone was going and then not long after the goal came.”

Interesting point from Antonio.

The match for most of the game sort of bubbled along as neither Tottenham nor the Hammers created too many opportunities.

However, after Fornals and Romero had their little ding dong, everything changed, and then the Irons grabbed the winner thanks to Antonio.

This was his sixth league goal of the season, and it puts the Hammers into the top four, which is just incredible, really.

Before the season started, there had been fears that the Irons might burn out due to the Europa League, but they recruited wisely and are playing with confidence that a burnout looks a long way off.

West Ham

They weren’t at their best today, but it shows that a moment of fight and confrontation can change a game in the same way as a moment of brilliance can.

This is a lovely interview from Antonio, and we recommend any Irons fan to give it a watch.
