West Ham star Jarrod Bowen opens up about England struggle in final third

West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen feels that England strikers do not lack belief despite the recent goalscoring struggles in the international fixtures.

Despite having a bundle of attacking talent in Harry Kane, Mason Mount, Jack Grealish, and Raheem Sterling, the Three Lions have struggled to put the ball in the back of the net in the UEFA Nations League.

However, the Hammers star believes that the margin for error is low in international football and the attackers must seize their opportunity whenever it arrives.

“We’ve not had a big-scoring game since I’ve come here and I think that comes down to the quality of the teams and the margins in it,” Bowen was quoted by the Guardian series.

“The margins are really tight and I think that is something I’m learning in international football.

“On another day with the games that we’ve had, we’ve had chances, so we would be coming back off three wins instead of not having a win so far. It’s tight.”

Bowen was one of the standout players for David Moyes in the recently concluded Premier League season, scoring 12 goals and providing 12 assists in 36 appearances [Transfermarkt].

Due to his brilliant performances for the Hammers, Bowen received his first international cap last month in a 1-0 defeat against Hungary.

The star winger will once again be one of the most important players for Moyes next season as West Ham prepare to play in the UEFA Europa Conference League for the first time in their history.

With the lack of goals across England’s firing line in recent months, Bowen can be part of the starting line-up in the upcoming World Cup more times than expected.

His creativity and ball-carrying ability on the wing would be an asset to Gareth Southgate.

Considering how he has combined with Michael Antonio at West Ham, he should have no problems linking up with the England captain Kane.
