West Ham star Declan Rice posts emotional post after England defeat

West Ham and England midfielder Declan Rice has posted an emotional message on his own personal Twitter account after the Three Lions lost in the European Championship final to Italy.

The 22-year-old started the match and was fantastic for Gareth Southgate’s side before he was replaced in the second half.

In his message, he claimed that he was “absolutely devastated” and that the fact he and the side got so close was “heartbreaking”. However, it wasn’t a totally negative post as Rice emphasised how “proud” he was of the side and that it had been a “true honour” to represent England.

Classy message from a classy guy

Rice was another absolute star for the Three Lions throughout this tournament, and in the final, he was no different.

This is a classy and important message from the 22-year-old who has clearly matured beyond his years both on and off the field.

Rice had a brilliant season for West Ham, and he carried that form straight into the Euros and was desperately unlucky not to end the tournament with a winner’s medal.

However, you can tell from his message that he is already thinking about the next tournament with England, and even with the transfer talk swirling around, you can guarantee that Rice will be 100% focused on the Hammers [the Guardian].

He is a fantastic ambassador for footballers and for the Hammers, and every single West Ham fan should be proud to have him representing their football club.
