West Ham star Declan Rice described as 'best in the Premier League' by Glenn Hoddle
West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is the best player in the Premier League, claims Glenn Hoddle.
The England international has played every league minute for the Hammers this season, helping the club reach third place in the table.
Rice’s performances have earned several plaudits and seen him linked with moves to Manchester United and Chelsea.
The latest man to serenade the 22-year-old is Glenn Hoddle, who was speaking to TalkSport about the current level of English talent.
“I think we’ve got some unbelievable players (in this country),” the former Three Lions boss said.
“I think Declan Rice is the best player in the Premier League, he’s going to get better and better.”
A big statement
Hoddle’s words will delight West Ham fans, particularly as the 64-year-old has such close ties to rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Rice deserves all the praise he is getting at the moment as he evolves into a midfield dynamo and the sky is the limit for the 22-year-old’s career.
He is certainly one of the best in his position in the league, but to say there is no one better than him in the entire top-flight is a stretch and perhaps slight hyperbole on Hoddle’s part.
It would certainly be interesting to see what Mohamed Salah thinks of the comments for example, as the Egyptian is enjoying the form of his career having scored 10 goals and registered seven assists in 11 league games this season.
Ultimately it is hard to truly compare Rice against Salah and other attacking stars such as Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku as they have very different roles.
