West Ham star Declan Rice could still be snapped up by Chelsea this summer

West Ham star Declan Rice could still end up leaving the London Stadium this summer for a move to Chelsea, according to the Daily Express.

They claim that once the Blues complete the signing of Romelu Lukaku, they could look to continue their summer spending with a move for the 22-year-old, despite Rice apparently accepting that he will be staying with the Hammers this season.

The report claims that the signing of Rice would fit Chelsea’s “strategy” and that the Blues “can never be ruled out” and that they could spend a lot of money on Rice.

Rice to leave?

This seems like a pretty odd report and suggests the total opposite to the Daily Mail’s report on Rice earlier this month.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Rice for ages now, and until they actually make a bid, it is all just speculation.

It is clear that the Blues like the England man, but until the Hammers’ price tag for Rice is met, he won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

The Athletic reported quite recently that the Hammers want £100million for the 22-year-old, so can you see Chelsea really spending that after spending over £100million on Lukaku?

We can’t, and we think it is much more likely that Rice stays at West Ham for at least one more season.

Things might be different next summer, but for now, we can’t see Rice moving on from the Irons.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have identified another centre-back target.
