West Ham sources name manager David Sullivan’s been advised to hire next

David Sullivan has been advised to appoint Edin Terzic as Julen Lopetegui’s successor at West Ham, sources have told GiveMeSport.

The website reported [22 November] that the former Borussia Dortmund man is not destined to take the reigns at the London Stadium but his name is being pushed in Sullivan’s direction.

It is understood that the current head coach’s job is on the line and should the Hammers suffer a convincing defeat against Newcastle United on Monday 25 November, he could be replaced.

West Ham United to sack Julen Lopetegui after Newcastle United clash?

If the Hammers are serious about sacking the Spaniard should they get smashed by the Magpies at their own stadium, history would appear to be in the visitors’ favour.

Despite going 2-1 up after an Alexander Isak penalty in their last meeting, Eddie Howe’s men eventually secured a 4-3 win at St James’ Park thanks to a late Harvey Barnes brace.

The Hammers only have one win from the last 11 meetings so Lopetegui could very much be in his final hours as the head coach despite only being appointed during the summer.

He was expected to bring a new attacking style of football to the team, far more exciting than David Moyes, but he has only created more problems on the pitch, in attack and defence.

Sullivan clearly believed in him enough to invest heavily during the summer transfer window but that faith does not look to have been repaid as the Hammers sit 14th in the Premier League table, five points above the dropzone.

A few victories over the busy Christmas period and there could be a very different outlook in East London, but based on the early signs so far, Lopetegui is running out of time to live up to his credentials.

In other West Ham news, David Sullivan must pull the plug on London Stadium leaks, it’s getting ridiculous now.
