West Ham signing Nikola Vlasic is keen on playing against Manchester United

West Ham new boy Nikola Vlasic wants to have a key role for the Hammers against Manchester United.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the 23-year-old revealed that he wants to start against the Red Devils after he made his first start for the Irons against Dinamo Zagreb.

The former Everton man joined the Hammers on transfer deadline day and has made his Premier League debut for David Moyes’ side and clearly wants more.

He said: “I came back to the Premier League because of games like this. This will be my first time at the West Ham stadium, so I hope I can play.

“I’m back at the start of a journey, and every game, every training session is about proving myself. I hope I will be here [for] a long period of time.

“In my honest opinion, I think West Ham have a great, great team. Very good players. We’re all quick, good technically.

“The philosophy of the coach is very good – attacking football – and I enjoy it. It was a no-brainer for me when I heard about their interest.”

Vlasic clearly has the right attitude.

This current team that Moyes has assembled consists of young and hungry players who want to improve themselves and the club.

Vlasic has only been with the Irons for a short period of time, but it is very clear that he is determined to do well for his new club.

He has been in the Premier League before with Everton but struggled to make an impact at Goodison Park and clearly wants to prove the Toffees wrong for letting him go and not playing him that often.

While he was in Russia with CSKA Moscow, the 23-year-old racked up a good goalscoring record and has now earned another chance in England with the Irons.

Michail Antonio is banned for the match on Sunday, which could give Vlasic the start that he craves against the Red Devils.

Hopefully, he impresses because he clearly has the right attitude to play for the Irons.

In other West Ham news, Paul Merson has made his Manchester United prediction.
