West Ham showed interest in Florian Thauvin before Mexico move
Ludovic Deléchat, one of Florian Thauvin’s agents, has confirmed that West Ham tried to sign the 29-year-old in the summer transfer window.
However, the world cup winner decided to join Mexican side Tigres UANL on a free transfer from Marseille in 2021.
Newcastle United and Manchester City were among other Premier League clubs interested in the winger.

He told TuttoMercatoWeb: “There were talks with Pablo Longoria, the president, then the interest of big clubs like Milan, Atalanta, Rome, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Lyon towards the end.”
Frustrating
This is a crazy move from Thauvin. He must have wanted a step down in his career if he turned down the chance to come to England and the Premier League, especially with City among the teams interested in him.
It seems like a waste of talent from the Frenchman. Aged 29, he surely has a few more years left in the tank and his goalscoring record speaks for itself.
He notched 86 goals and 61 assists in 281 Ligue 1 appearances which is quite impressive.

England is quite a daunting place to go and some players don’t fancy the mental and physical strain that comes with playing in the biggest and best league in the world which is understandable.
This news should breed confidence amongst Irons. It shows that the club are trying to make signings and strengthen the squad.
Just because the fans don’t see all of the ongoing business behind the scenes, it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening and they need to understand that as transfer frustrations reach a new high.
