West Ham set to officially announce arrival of ex-La Liga manager
Nuno Espirito Santo is under huge pressure at West Ham United with relegation looming.
The East London side are firmly in the Premier League bottom three, seven points adrift of safety and without a top-flight win since the start of November.
Nuno replaced Graham Potter five games into the season, and after initially inspiring the Hammers to several promising results, has seen the situation unravel in front of his eyes.
However, West Ham are sticking with the Portuguese manager for the time being and have now backed him further by making a big addition to his coaching team.
Paco Jemez set to join West Ham
According to Sky Sports, West Ham are set to add Paco Jemez to Nuno’s backroom staff at the London Stadium, with an official announcement expected soon.
Jemez has held various managerial roles throughout his career, including at Rayo Vallecano and Granada in La Liga.
Most recently, the 55-year-old was in charge of UD Ibiza in the Primera RFEF, but he was sacked in October after a poor start to the season.
During his playing career, Jemez played 21 times for the Spanish national team, as well as having spells at Real Zaragoza and Deportivo de La Coruna, among others.
The former defender now has over 18 years of managerial experience across 10 different clubs.
Paco Jemez arrival is a big boost for Nuno
Not only does Jemez bring a load of experience to the London Stadium, but it also shows that West Ham are prepared to continue backing Nuno.
If the Hammers were on the verge of sacking the former Tottenham and Nottingham Forest boss, then they would’ve waited to make changes to the coaching staff.
West Ham’s 2-1 win over QPR in the FA Cup last Sunday was the first time in 11 games that the East London side had tasted victory, highlighting the horrible form they are currently in.
However, David Sullivan and the rest of the hierarchy clearly believe that Nuno is the best man to get them out of this situation, and are sticking by him for now.
