West Ham set for ‘new’ talks with four-year deal wanted for Tomas Soucek – report

West Ham want to sign midfield stalwart Tomas Soucek to a four-year deal at the London Stadium, according to Claret & Hugh.

The Irons are ready to launch “new” negotiations with the Czech Republic international agents following several unsuccessful talks.

Soucek is said to be looking for a weekly wage within the region of £80k per week having been told the club would reconsider his first deal based on his performances when he joined in 2020.

The last round of talks broke down as the club were unwilling to match his wage demand, but his agents agreed to resume discussions in the summer.

With the midfielder out of contract in 2024, West Ham are hoping to come to an agreement by the end of the season.

Get it done

Why are the Hammers so tight? Soucek has been one of the best players for the team over the past couple of seasons and they are genuinely haggling him with his wages.

Understandably, it is a business, but they need to pay their players what they are worth before they lose them. It is as simple as that.

A lot of the players in the squad are performing at levels that will make the very best teams in the world take notice and if David Sullivan and co want to continue to play games, they could easily be snapped up.

David Moyes and these players have worked so, so hard over the past couple of seasons and it would be disappointing if all of that was unravelled due to decisions by the owners.

Soucek along with the likes of Declan Rice, Jarrod Bowen, Kurt Zouma and many others are imperative to this squad and they must be kept at all costs.
