West Ham set for academy overhaul amid David Moyes long-term plans

West Ham are reportedly going to hire members of staff to their academy that trains players for the senior team.

According to ExWHUemployee, David Moyes wants a long-term project at the London Stadium which requires work on the academy as well.

Most of them are believed to be players affiliated with the club with former players too in the running.

Speaking on the West Ham Way podcast, Ex said, “We’re set to appoint new members of staff for our academy.

“There are others that are potentially coming in because David Moyes set out that priority of a long-term project.

“There are a lot of ex players too, which is a good thing.”

Good move

It’s very nice for clubs to have good academies promoting players to the first team.

While Moyes does not really use his academy players to a great extent, it does make sense for it to be part of a long-term plan.

Some teams see their academies as extensions of their first teams but that’s clearly not the case with the Hammers.

Hopefully, these changes see that happening as there is an overhaul needed behind the scenes.

Getting ex players in also should be viewed as a good move as they understand the culture and heritage of the club.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have scouted a £20m-rated ‘Dangerous’ British striker and want to seal a permanent move this summer.
