West Ham send scouts to track Blackburn Rovers forward Ben Brereton Diaz

West Ham reportedly sent scouts to the Blackburn Rovers v Hull City clash on Wednesday (January 19) to track Ben Brereton Diaz.

According to the Sunday Express (23/01/22, pg 74), the Hammers along with Newcastle will make their decision this week whether or not they’ll be pushing for the 22-year-old’s signature this month.

Diaz, who’s already a regular for the Chilean national team, has bagged 20 goals in the Championship this term and is second in the scoring charts.

Snap him up

At 22, the Hammers will not get too many better attackers than Diaz, who’s been absolutely killing it in the Championship.

His performances for Rovers surely would’ve sky-rocketed his valuation, but he certainly is worth every penny that they demand.

The Irons have been quoted a £28.5million fee to sign the Chilean during the January transfer window, according to Claret and Hugh.

While this could be on the higher side, they could negotiate and bring it down further.

However, they must not let him leave for Newcastle or any other Premier League club as it could be at their own peril.

Diaz already looks set to be a leading player in the English top flight and given his age, this is an investment most clubs of West Ham’s stature would be happy to make.
