“But with results not matching expectations, talks over his future will continue.”

Julen Lopetegui has one last throw of the die at West Ham United

West Ham have been rooted to 14th place in the Premier League throughout a turbulent string of results and can consider themselves fortunate the sides in the relegation zone have continued to drop points.

The 2-0 win against Newcastle United provided a shimmer of hope to the supporters, but in true Lopetegui fashion, his Hammers side have subsequently been handed a stark reality check in the 5-2 loss against Arsenal and the more damning 3-1 loss against Leicester City.

According to Fabrizio Romano [5 December], the board are willing to give the Spaniard the chance to redeem himself one final time in the upcoming clash against Wolves and another under-fire boss in Gary O’Neil.

Wolves are coming off the back of a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Everton, and the Hammers will have no better opportunity to gain a monumental three points against a side who can be dangerous on any given day.

Therefore, David Sullivan risks throwing his name into the firing line after the supporters made their feelings known towards Lopetegui, calling for the Spaniard to be dismissed during the 3-1 defeat at the King Power Stadium.

This is well and truly the last chance saloon for Lopetegui, and while perhaps undeservedly so, his fate in East London will be decided one way or another on the result that transpires at the London Stadium on Monday (9 December).
