West Ham receive high praise from Rio Ferdinand after ‘unreal’ win v Sevilla
West Ham United enjoyed one of their most famous nights yesterday as they stunningly beat Sevilla in extra time to advance in the Europa League.
Andriy Yarmolenko popped up with the decisive goal for the second game running for the Hammers with 112 minutes on the clock to seal a 2-1 aggregate win following Tomas Soucek’s first-half goal.
The quarter-finals now beckon for David Moyes’ Irons with clubs such as Barcelona and Lyon still in the draw as well as Scottish champions Rangers.
Ex-Hammers defender Rio Ferdinand was quick to react to last night’s success on Twitter showing he still has claret and blue in his blood.
“Unreal performance/result from West Ham tonight… scenes,” he said.
Aim for the moon
Wow. What a night to be a Hammer eh?
A lot of people may have claimed that the London Stadium doesn’t have the capacity to build the same kind of special atmosphere that Upton Park did but those individuals are rather quiet right now.
West Ham are now one of only eight teams who can win the Europa League and every side will have dreams of lifting that silver trophy aloft come May.

But most have only dreams whereas the Irons have real ambition and a genuine chance to do so.
Why can’t Moyes’ boys go all the way and win a big continental trophy for the football club? Why shouldn’t they aim for that?
It might come at the expense of their Premier League form but a top-four finish, which they have been chasing all season, is starting to look out of their reach.
So let’s aim for the moon and then if we miss, we’ll end up in the stars.
