West Ham ready to make an offer for Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma

West Ham United are in talks with Chelsea to sign Kurt Zouma, and are ready to make a big offer for him, according to TeleFoot1 journalist Julien Maynard.

The French centre-back is also on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace, while a move to Sevilla remains on the cards, even though a deal would be difficult.

Maynard wrote on his verified Twitter account this morning about West Ham’s interest in the 26-year-old.

“Several English clubs are discussing with Chelsea for Kurt Zouma: Tottenham, Crystal Palace and now West Ham.

“The Hammers are ready to make a big offer to the French defender.

“Seville remains an option but difficult to achieve”

Solid addition

West Ham really need to sign at least one top centre-back this summer, and the France international would be a solid addition to David Moyes’ backline.

Angelo Ogbonna is currently carrying a knock, leaving Issa Diop and Craig Dawson as our only senior options heading into the new Premier League season.

There is no way the Hammers would rely on just three centre-backs for a season, and it is a department that should be high on our wish list in the transfer market right now.

Zouma is clearly surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, but he is a great defender with top quality and plenty of experience.

He has played 150 games for Chelsea and should be available for a decent fee as they want him out.

Spurs and Palace also give the 6ft 3in powerhouse the chance to remain in London, but they are not offering something as good as Europa League football.

Zouma wants to be playing for France at the World Cup next summer having watched the whole of his country’s European Championship campaign on the bench.

A move to West Ham where he can play regularly would boost his chances of adding to his eight international caps anytime soon, and this is a move Moyes should look to seal if we are to impress in 2021-22.

In other West Ham news, Hammers are ready to offer player highly incentivised contract, Moyes wants him.
