West Ham: Ray Parlour baffled by Ange Postecoglou decision on talkSPORT in David Moyes verdict

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou didn’t deserve to win manager of the year at the London Football Awards ahead of West Ham boss David Moyes, according to Ray Parlour.

The Australian was awarded the honour on Thursday (29 September) evening, beating both Moyes and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta despite only taking over the North London club during the summer of 2023.

While talkSPORT pundit Parlour is a big fan of Postecoglou and has been impressed with his work at Spurs, he was left baffled by the decision to snub Moyes suggesting the Scotsman deserved the honour for lifting the Europa Conference League.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (1 March, 9:37) he said: “I love Postecoglou, what he’s done for Spurs so far has been brilliant. The feel-good factor, the way he plays, and his interviews are great but it’s definitely got to be a nay hasn’t it?

“They haven’t won a trophy, they’re going for the top four which would be a very good season, but I would go more towards West Ham after winning that European trophy. It’s got to be David Moyes no? First European trophy.”

Will David Moyes stay at West Ham beyond the end of the season?

Moyes has come under some scrutiny from West Ham supporters and pundits in recent weeks for the Irons’ miserable form in the Premier League, with many suggesting that his time at the London Stadium should come to an end.

The Scotsman has insisted that he has a contract on the table but is waiting until the summer to decide on his future, suggesting that there is still a chance he could sign on the dotted line and remain in charge of the Hammers.

West Ham
David Moyes has found himself under increasing pressure at West Ham United.

While results and performances have been poor this year, Moyes’ achievements last season shouldn’t have been overlooked and certainly are more deserving of an individual award than Postecoglou’s work at Tottenham.

Hopefully, the 60-year-old can get his hands on some sort of silverware this season so that he can leave East London on a high if he does decide to part ways with West Ham at the end of the campaign.
