West Ham quoted £28.5million to sign Ben Brereton Diaz in January

West Ham have been quoted £28.5million to sign Ben Brereton Diaz during the January transfer window, according to Claret and Hugh.

The Stoke-on-Trent-born Chile international striker, 22, has been in fine form in 2021-22 for the Championship outfit, and sources at the club have told C and H the owners are open to a sale this window despite their promotion push.

The Hammers have watched Diaz on a couple of occasions this season, but whether they are willing to part with almost £30million for someone out of contract this summer remains to be seen.

Additionally, the Ewood Park outfit retain the option of triggering a 12-month extension in his deal, and they believe he will still command top dollar in the summer.

Off?

Blackburn clearly do not want to lose a player who has scored 20 goals in 27 league games this season right now, but a huge bid is surely going to force their hands.

West Ham are not likely to part with such a fee for anyone right now, especially for a striker yet to prove himself at a top level.

Rovers have slapped such an amount on him in a bid to shoo off the Irons and co, and they need to start looking elsewhere or wait till summer.

David Moyes could really do with such a finisher during the second half of the campaign.

He will surely help boost their top-four chances and could help land silverware should he hit the ground running should a move to the London Stadium work out this month.

However, that is looking unlikely, and Blackburn are just not in any rush to sell.

The fact that he will not be first choice at West Ham will also see Diaz not want to move.

He needs to be playing regularly to maintain such a form and his international relevance, and a place in the Hammers starting XI is not available.
