West Ham put in ‘massive’ performance to beat Sevilla – David Moyes

West Ham United put their name into the hat for the quarte-finals of the Europa League with an extra-time victory over six-time winners Sevilla.

For the second time in as many games, it was Andriy Yarmolenko who was the hero of the London Stadium as he put himself in the perfect place to convert a rebound in the 112th minute of the game.

Tomas Soucek had scored the equalising goal in normal time which helped the Hammers defeat Los Rojiblancos 2-1 on aggregate.

Irons manager David Moyes was in a jubilant mood when speaking to the press after the game, joking about how “massive” the Hammers are.

“I have heard we are really massive,” Moyes said, as quoted by Football London.

“I have heard that as well and tonight we were massive the way we played. We played in great fashion and deserved it, it was a really good night and, in the end, one we really enjoyed.”

West Ham are massive

It’s no longer a joke, West Ham really are massive and everyone in Europe knows about it.

Even Barcelona will fear playing against Moyes’ boys in the quarter-finals should they be drawn against each other.

There is still a lot of work to be done for the Irons and Moyes will be more aware than anyone that they are far from winning anything yet but they can at least enjoy the moment.

Yarmolenko especially deserves to take every scrap of praise that is sent his way for how he has fought back from being out in the cold and having his homeland Ukraine invaded to become an integral part of the setup at the London Stadium.

There appears to be a real togetherness within the club right now and if that remains, the “massive” Hammers will be unstoppable.

In other West Ham news, one of BT Sport’s pundits could not believe what he saw from one Irons ace last night.
