West Ham pushing for deal to sign Darwin Nunez

Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has claimed that one source has informed that West Ham have agreed a fee for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.

The Hammers are looking to sign a striker and a centre-back before Monday’s 11 pm transfer deadline.

The Hammers are also showing keen interest in signing Hugo Ekitike & Rhys Healey.

Big move

After a month of transfer wilderness, it seems West Ham are finally making some right moves.

In between, they took a deviation from their plans to make bids for Leeds United duo Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips [The Telegraph], which makes sense little sense, considering the situation they are in.

They badly need a striker, with Michail Antonio being the only recognised striker they have. And if he gets injured, David Moyes will have no back-up options. He will have to rely on the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma, both makeshift options, to do the job.

Nunez is currently with the Uruguay squad for the World Cup and it looks a bit difficult to get the transfer set in motion.

According to reports from 90 mins, the Hammers are looking at a permanent deal for the 22-year-old striker who is interested in moving to the London club as well.

West Ham can offer him European football, and probably a better pay package.

Ekitike has been linked this week, with Sky Sports reporting that he could cost in excess of £25 million. However, the Hammers could face competition from Newcastle for his signature.

Healey, a cheaper alternative, is probably their plan C option at the moment. It would be logistically difficult to get a deal done for Nunez, but it seems the Hammers are determined to get him before D-day.

In other West Ham news, this international player is reportedly headed to the London Stadium.
