Nuno Espirito Santo: Lucas Paqueta will play vs Brighton

Paqueta was in hot water last weekend when he was needlessly sent off against Liverpool.

The Brazilian received two yellow cards in quick succession for dissent.

As a result, Paqueta received widespread backlash for his actions at the London Stadium, and there were questions about whether he would even be allowed back into the starting XI after the he served his suspension.

However, Nuno has since confirmed that the Brazilian international will play against Brighton.

He confirmed in his press conference to The Standard on 5 December: Yes. He is going to play.”

In other news, Summerville is closing in on a return afte missing the last few matchs.

Summerville has been out with a calf strain, which saw him miss West Ham’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth after the international break.

Now, ahead of the Brighton clash, Nuno has confirmed that he hopes the winger will be back in action soon.

He said: “Crysencio hopefully returns soon. We miss him. We know what he gives to the team. Let’s see. We need all the players. I hope he can be back.”

West Ham’s record against Brighton explained

In recent years, West Ham have had a terrible record against Brighton.

In their last 16 meetings, the Hammers have only won once, a 3-1 victory at the American Express Stadium back in August 2023.

While most clashes have ended in draws in this run, four of the last seven meetings have ended in a Brighton victory.

Now, Nuno will be hoping that the return of Paqueta can end this trend once and for all.
