West Ham plot double signings before January 31

West Ham are looking to make double signings before the end of the transfer window, according to reports from Express Sport.

The Hammers have remained quiet thus far, but it seems David Moyes is looking to make his moves, with two priority targets being identified and shortlisted.

Blackburn Rovers’ talisman forward Ben Brereton Diaz and Liverpool’s centre-back Nathaniel Phillips are currently being considered.

Perfect

Signing a striker and a centre-back are top priorities and the two aforementioned players will be smart additions to the side.

Diaz has sparkled for Rovers in the Championship, almost threatening single-handedly to take the club to promotion this season.

He was dubbed as “unbelievable” by Blackburn’s official Twitter account earlier this season, and rightly so. He is that good.

With 20 goals already, he has drawn the attention of a host of clubs, including Brighton and Leeds United. However, his £25 million asking price has put Leeds out of the picture, potentially paving the way for West Ham to make an official move.

A more realistic target for Moyes is Phillips. The Reds defender played a pivotal role in an injury-hit campaign last season, and Jurgen Klopp is open to letting him go.

At 24, he is too good of a player to rot on the bench. On the other hand, it’s really difficult for him to cement his position in the Reds starting line-up.

He is being valued at around £15million, which means West Ham will have to fork out in the region of £40 million to land both players this month.
