West Ham United player ratings v Bournemouth: Kurt Zouma shines, Jarrod Bowen disappoints

West Ham picked up three important points at the London Stadium when they beat Bournemouth 2-0 at the London Stadium on Monday.

Kurt Zouma opened the scoring for the Hammers before Said Benrahma secured the points with a late penalty.

With the win, the Hammers are now out of the bottom half – somewhere they’ve been all season after a relatively slow start.

Here are our player ratings from the game:

Lukasz Fabianski – 6

A clean sheet along with three routine saves is certainly a job well done for the Polish goalkeeper. Due to his centre-backs performing exceptionally well, he wasn’t ever in danger of conceding a goal.

Ben Johnson – 4

Did not have the same sort of attacking impact as he would’ve liked as he was off the mark with his crosses. Even defensively, he was often second best in his duels against Marcus Tavernier and Jordan Zemura.

Kurt Zouma – 9

The 27-year-old scored the all-important opening goal and was faultless at the back. He seldom put a foot wrong and kept Dominic Solanke at bay from the outset until he was on the pitch. Marshalled his defence very well and the visitors never seemed like they were going to have a sniff at goal.

Thilo Kehrer – 8

An outstanding performance defensively by Kehrer who has now grown into his role at the London Stadium. Played a key part in setting up the goal whether it was intentional or not. Few will remember at the end of the season the points it won the Hammers in October.

West Ham

Aaron Cresswell – 7

His delivery from set pieces was exemplary and it gave the Cherries plenty to worry about. He will be happy with his contribution from open play as well in what was a good evening at the London Stadium.

Tomas Soucek – 7

Covered a decent amount of ground and looked like the Soucek of old along side Rice. His passing was good and he was also adept at winning his duels and getting stuck in.

Declan Rice – 8

Misplaced just one pass all night as he boasted a pass accuracy of 99 per cent. Not much can be said of Rice that isn’t already. At the London Stadium, nothing seems to nerve him and he’s out there putting in 8/10s more often than not.

Jarrod Bowen – 3

It was a disappointing game from Bowen as he’s someone who’s set such high standards. Loved by the fans at the London Stadium, this wouldn’t be a performance they’ll remember for long. Looked isolated on the right, failed to complete a single dribble on the night and did not even register a shot on or off target.

West Ham United

Flynn Downes – 7

A sharp performance from the summer signing who’s always performed well for Moyes’ side. It was an acquisition that went under the radar but we can see why he was brought in by the hierarchy.

Said Benrahma – 8

Another exceptional performance from the Algerian who now seems closer to being one of Moyes’ first names on the team sheet. Was a constant menace down the left, taking defenders on for fun and setting up goal-scoring chances. With that end product, he would be an absolute phenomenon and we cannot wait to see that. He did find the back of the net from the penalty spot and would certainly want to be getting some from open play as well.

Gianluca Scamacca – 6

Was a constant out ball for the Hammers and did a decent job even though he did not find the back of the net. Wasn’t his worst in a West Ham jersey but he’ll certainly have better ones than this.

Substitutes

Michail Antonio – 5

Vladimir Coufal – 6
