West Ham open to Said Benrahma sale, conditions shared

West Ham United are open to letting winger Said Benrahma leave in the summer transfer window, according to Evening Standard.

The Hammers are expected to go for the squad overhaul ahead of the next campaign after finishing seventh in the Premier League and securing a berth in the semi-final of the UEFA Europa League where they lost to eventual champions Eintracht Frankfurt.

According to the latest report, the Irons will be open to letting numerous players, including the Algerian leave once the window opens.

However, that will depend on the London-based club recouping a significant amount of the fee paid at the time of signing the 26-year-old.

Interesting development

West Ham are likely to go through a rebuilding phase ahead of the next campaign where a lot of changes are expected in the first-team personnel.

However, even then, the development regarding Benrahma must be considered an interesting one, especially after the departure of someone like Andriy Yarmolenko — who left the club as a free agent — who plays in a similar role.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether manager David Moyes will let go of another winger ahead of the next campaign.

Benrahma joined the Hammers in the January transfer window in 2021 from Brentford in a deal worth £20.79 million.

Since then, he has played 81 matches for the London-based club across all competitions where he has managed to score 12 times and provided 13 assists in the process.

In the recently concluded campaign, the Algeria international scored 11 times for West Ham and provided six assists in 48 matches across all competitions.

In other West Ham news, Ryan Fredericks is leaving the club on a free transfer on 30 June and he may well find a new home in the Premier League.
