West Ham not that close to signing Matheus Pereira

West Ham are not thought to be that close to signing Matheus Pereira from West Brom, according to a report from Claret & Hugh.

They claim that “suggestions” that the club are close to signing the 25-year-old “have been denied by club insiders”, and the attacking midfielder is not a “priority signing” for David Moyes.

There had been suggestions that Pereira was a top target for the Hammers and was perhaps even close to joining them, but that doesn’t appear to be the case as it stands with no bids being lodged.

Will West Ham sign Pereira?

The Hammers still have time to do some business before the transfer window ends and could still bring the 25-year-old to the London Stadium.

However, time is running out for the club to make any more signings before the start of the season, and as it stands, it appears as if Pereira is not on the verge of a move to West Ham.

Pereira, though, is a wonderful player and has been described as “sensational” by the Express & Star and could be an excellent addition for the Hammers.

The Brazilian is versatile, and last season, in an awful West Brom side, he scored 11 goals, which would have made him the top goalscorer in this West Ham side [WhoScored].

So, he could definitely add some quality, and hopefully, the Hammers do sign him.

For now, though, it seems as if he will be staying at the Hawthorns and is not about to join the Hammers imminently.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are out of the race for one of their supposed targets.
